The Grove

The Grove, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

A wonderful short 10 min walk through limestone pancake rock formations with towering Rata brings you to a stunning view of Golden Bay. This is encountered after coming through a natural cut in the rocks.

Tata Beach

Tata Beach, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

A popular swimming beach with golden sands and a delightful place to kayak from.

Ligar Bay

Ligar Bay, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

First of the golden beaches coming from Takaka, it is quite tidal and interesting.

Pohara Beach

Pohara Beach, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

Shallow and safe this is the warmest beach in the bay. Popular, with a good camp and store, two cafes and a restaurant.

Bainham Store

Bainham Store, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

On the way to the Heaphy Track this old-style NZ country store and Post Office has been run by Lorna Langford for over 60 years and now has heritage status.

Wainui Falls

Wainui Falls, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

A 40 minute walk through beautiful native bush leads you to the falls. In summer the hot and keen swim in the pool in front of the falls.

Rawhiti Cave

Rawhiti Cave, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

A 15 minute riverside walk leads on to a 30 minute zig-zagging climb to the impressive cave mouth. Well worth the struggle.

Espresso Pirate

Expresso Pirate, Golden Bay, Nelson, NZ

Jaque Cousteau's first boat, used while he was perfecting the SCUBA is now used in the summer as a coffee shop. This is an interesting and charming place to rest a while.
